GA DECA Foundation and the Marriott Atlanta Business Council Awards Crisp County DECA Student Ravi Mehta Scholarship

Susan Fuller got word from Bob Armbruster, President of Georgia DECA Foundation, Inc. that the Marriott Atlanta Business Council was providing Ravi Mehta a $350 scholarship to be used toward his costs of attending the DECA International Competition and Career Development Conference. This year the event will be held in Louisville. Ravi placed 3rd in the Hotel and Lodging Management Event at the Georgia DECA State Competition.
Ravi Mehta was one of the first students Susan Fuller, Crisp County High School DECA Advisor and Marketing Teacher, took to an International DECA Competition. Not only was Ravi one of the first students, he qualified as a 9th grade first year marketing student. Not many 9th grade students compete against upper classmen marketing students and are able to beat them out and qualify for the highest level of competition in DECA competitive events. Ravi Mehta has been competing in the field of Hotel and Lodging ever since his 9th grade year. Additionally, he took a 30 page business plan and research event two of the four years. He has qualified for International DECA Competition 3 out of his 4 years. Two of those years Ravi qualified in more than one event!
Ravi is attending the University of Georgia in the Fall. He plans on majoring in Business Finance. His parents are Sunil and Parul Mehta. Ravi also has a sister Amee that happens to be the second first year marketing student to ever qualify for International DECA Competition.
The GA DECA Foundation is a non-profit organization created to provide funding and support for GA DECA Student participation in a competitive-enhanced environment within the Georgia Marketing Education Program, by establishing business partnerships and providing opportunities for interface with student academia. The Foundation enables the GA DECA student member to obtain leadership training and professional development in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship, plus gain vocational guidance which facilitates, strengthens, and serves future demands of the Georgia work force and business communities.
